Build a freezer flavour kit

Stock the freezer with ready building blocks — shredded chicken, stock, infused oils, mince base, veg purées — so a lower-risk dinner is 10 minutes away.

  • Lower gas
  • More flavour
easy · freezer-friendly

The hardest time to cook well is when you're tired or flaring. A freezer kit removes the friction: when the building blocks are already made, a gentle meal is just assembly. Build it up over a couple of cook sessions.

Best for

  • Busy weeknights
  • Low-energy days
  • Avoiding takeaway when you're flaring

Replaces

  • Last-minute takeaway
  • Reaching for higher-scoring convenience food

What you need

  • Shredded chicken portions
  • Chicken / lamb stock portions
  • Garlic oil and onion oil portions
  • Herb oil portions
  • Mild mince base
  • Pumpkin / carrot purée
  • Gravy base
  • Cooked rice portions
  • Mashed potato portions

How to make it

  1. Pick one or two building blocks to make each cook session.
  2. Portion into small, meal-sized, labelled containers.
  3. Cool before freezing; freeze flat where possible for fast thawing.
  4. Keep a simple list on the freezer door of what's in there.

How to store it

Freeze in small, labelled, dated portions. Most cooked bases keep well for a few weeks to a couple of months.

How to use it

  • Combine a protein + a starch + a flavour base + a soft veg for a fast bowl.
  • Thaw infused-oil portions in the fridge.

Recipe ideas

  • Chicken + rice + garlic oil + glazed carrots
  • Mince base + mashed potato cottage-pie style
